HCA SOLUTIONS is Hiring a Physical Therapist Near Coleman, FL

HCA Solutions is seeking a qualified Physical Therapist for the Federal Correctional Center (FCC) Coleman in Coleman, FL!

This is a contracted W2, full-time, long-term placement position.

Work Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), normally between the hours of 0800 a.m. - 3:30 with a 30-minute unpaid lunch period. The PT schedule shall not exceed 37.5 hours per week. Occasionally, may be requested to work a special schedule when needed. Due to the nature of the correctional setting, delays in performance of work may be experienced.

The Physical Therapist for BOP inmates that are medically complex outpatient inmates within the correctional facility. These inmates will require at least monthly evaluations by primary care physicians and may have limitations in their ability to perform activities of daily living, but do not require daily nursing care. Incumbent is responsible for performing physical therapy evaluations, formulating objective treatment plans, and providing treatments for patients (inmates) referred by other medical staff. The incumbent must plan, implement and administer treatments utilizing various accepted techniques which include, but are not limited to: therapeutic exercise; manual therapy; functional training; prescription, application, and/or fabrication of devices and equipment; integumentary repair and protection; and electrotherapeutic, physical, and mechanical modalities. Incumbent at times will work at times with a Physical Therapy assistant for which he/she will create treatment plans.

All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Physical Therapy Services, and compliance with all Federal and State policy and regulations. The contractor shall adhere to all standards and regulations associated with the Joint Commission (JC) and American Correctional Association Foundation/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions. The contractor’s performance shall be monitored by the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR). The contractor must be able to work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, regional, racial and ethnic backgrounds.

Physical Therapist must have knowledge of infectious control techniques, general medical treatment and medicines used in medically compromised patients, and contraindications to PT care. The ability to collect and track data and enter data into the agency’s electronic system and track scheduling of patient care and must have knowledge and experience in maintaining patient medical records and confidentiality.

Will be responsible for provision of the services as listed:

  • Identifying and meeting patients’ goals and needs.
  • Offering cost-effective treatments that help improve clients’ motion and mobility and general activities of daily living.
  • Reducing the need for medications and providing alternatives to surgery
  • Enter notes in the medical documentation system for physician's review.
  • Communicate with the Clinical Director.
  • Develop care plans using a variety of treatment techniques.
  • Create fitness- and wellness-oriented programs tailored to patients’ specific needs.
  • Provide quality, personalized and evidence-based care and proven interventions
  • Motivate patients during treatment in order to help them function optimally
  • Promote clients’ healthy lifestyle by improving strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination
  • Consult and practice with other health professionals
  • Evaluate effects and monitor and communicate progress.
  • Document patient care services.
  • Have a PTA working under the PT Services.
  • Performs administrative duties related to the provision of PT care including scheduling patients, preparing call-outs as necessary, pulling and filing medical records, and recording treatment.
  • Overlooks inmates housekeeping and infection control procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of and follows BOP, PT services, and institutional policies to include Employee Standards of Conduct, security, infection control, regulated waste management, and data management.
  • The physical demands of this position are sedentary in nature, however, long periods of standing, walking, and bending are required. Continuous mental and physical strain is inherent to duty and responsibility. Occasionally, the incumbent will be required to lift boxes and equipment. As a rule, this lifting would not exceed 35 pounds.
  • Personal contacts are with patients requiring PT care, contract workers, and other professional and non-professional civilian and Bureau employees. Incumbent has direct and frequent contacts with inmates and through these contacts, may impact their attitudes and behavior. Professional conduct is expected at all times under the BOP guidelines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands of this position are sedentary in nature. However, walking, prolonged standing, and sitting are required to accomplish the assigned tasks. Ability to lift patients using biomedical techniques frequently throughout the course of a workday/shift; must be capable of easily lifting fifty (50) pounds of weight alone.

UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS: Must wear black scrubs.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have professional knowledge of current and accepted theories, principles, and practices of physical therapy treatment and procedures typically obtained through an accredited physical therapy education program.
  • Must possess and maintain licensure.
  • Extensive knowledge of evaluation procedures is required to perform, administer, and monitor the effectiveness of modalities and intervention strategies utilized in physical therapy.
